Jonny Smith has been teaching surf lessons for over 24 Years. At 10 years old surfing became his passion, taking every spare minute to get in the water and improve his skills. It is important to him to share and inspire others to get in the water to find the joy he has gotten from surfing, including his 6 year old son Wilder who has already started riding waves with his dad.

Over the years his experience and knowledge has helped him develop a great teaching method. That paired with his fun nature will get you riding waves in no time.

Hi! I’m Kaleb. I am an avid surfer and skater. I’m also on the surf team at Newport Harbor High School and have been surfing since I was 5. So stoked to share my love of this amazing sport with others!

Hi I'm Brooke! I am a UC Santa Barbara student studying Marine Biology but I was born and raised here in Newport Beach. I am so thankful for my job as a surf instructor because I love helping children and adults alike realize their ability to surf. My name is Jack Horton, I’m 22 years old and I’ve been a surf instructor for about 5 years! Being born and raised in Huntington Beach, California, I’ve been in and around the ocean my entire life. I’ve been surfing for 12 years and have been lucky enough to surf at some of the best spots around the world. If you want to learn how to surf, some ocean safety tips and the local lingo, you’re in the right place!

Hello!!! My name is Hailey Caprilli, I am 20 years old and this is my first year instructing at Newport Surf Camp. I have been at the beach all of my life and have a deep love for the ocean. For about 3 years now I have been surfing religiously and practically live in the water at this point.Teaching people how to surf brings joy to my heart. I truly think it’s one of the greatest sports of all time and I can’t wait to get out there and shred the gnar with ya!

I have been working with Newport Surf camp for the last 9 yrs. And have 11 yrs overall teaching surfing. I have taught over 1000 people to surf throughout my years.

The best part is watching the joy people get when they stand up on their first wave!

My name is Blake Hepburn, I am 22 years old, and I was born and raised in Huntington Beach, California. I have been a surf instructor for 7 years and I started surfing when I was 4 years old. Teaching people how to surf and sharing knowledge of the ocean has been a passion of mine since I was a kid.

Hi, I am Zach Mullhofer and I have lived in Newport Beach for majority of my life.  I have enjoyed living and surfing in Newport Beach. I currently attend Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and I’m back for the summer working at the surf camp. This is my second year working for the camp. I have really enjoyed teaching kids how to surf and be safe. Always remember the best surfer out there is the one having the most fun!

Hi my names Elijah Haseth I’m 17 years old and go to Newport harbor high school. I’m on the varsity surf team and play baseball. Can’t wait to teach y’all to shred 🤙

My name is Eli Ferretti. I’m 20 years old and I’ve been surfing since I was 10. I was born and raised in Huntington Beach, California. I was a long boarder on my high school’s surf team for 3 years and I’ve always had a love for the ocean; so much so my family calls me the fish cause I spend more time in the water then on the sand. This will be my second year at Newport Surf camp and I loved every minute of teaching and lessons last year.
